FLINT TWP. — After a long offseason followed by a spring training session marked by unusually warm weather until the temperature took a drastic dip earlier this week, the Carman-Ainsworth varsity girls’ lacrosse team finally was able to get the 2012 season underway at home on Monday against Flint Metro League rival Swartz Creek. Unfortunately, while the Lady Dragons did have a nice lead over Carman-Ainsworth in the third period, those individual game stats and score were not reported by the time we went to press on Wednesday. While the same is true for the Lady Cavs season opener last Thursday against Flushing, the team next takes the field today at home against Saginaw Heritage. — M.S.
