FLINT TWP. — Carman-Ainsworth, 20-23 on the season, will be in the stands Tuesday watching to see who comes out alive in the district opener when Lapeer East, 6-2 Metro takes on Flint Kearsley, 3-5 Flint Metro. Thursday begins the Lady Cavs’ quest for district hardware when they take on Lapeer West, 7-1 Flint Metro, at 5 p.m. Davison gets East, which took out Kearsley, 27-25, 23-25, 26-24, 23-25, 17-15, in the district opener Tuesday. Davison, 5-1 Saginaw Valley League- South, 22-7-3 overall, and East go toeto toe Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and the title is decided Friday at 6 p.m.

The Cavaliers went 2-3 at their own invite last Saturday, defeating Bendle, 25-14, 25-13, and Breanna Hudson was named Player of the Match with six kills, 100 percent serving, one ace, three digs and one block. Jessica Smith had five kills, six points and one ace and Deja Lester had five kills. Jessica McClung had three kills, Dena Manns had 10 points and two aces and Moncia Townsend had six points, two aces, two assists and nine digs. Kayla Tigner had 15 assists and three digs and Aubrey Mikovits had three digs.

The Cavs lost to Mason, 14-25, 26-24, 9- 15, with McClung selected as Player of the Match with 16 digs, six kills, 100 percent serving and one ace. Smith had seven kills and 11 digs, McClung had six kills and 11 digs and Tigner, 11 assists and 13 digs. Townsend had 24 digs and Mikovits had four digs.

A win over Pinckney, 27-25, 25-22, had Smith as Player of the Match with 13 kills and 13 serve receives. McClung had seven kills and nine digs, Tigner added 26 assists and nine digs and Townsend had 14 digs. Mikovits added five digs and Alexus Colby had five digs.

East Lansing took Carman-Ainsworth to three sets, winning, 24-26, 25-20, 15- 8, with Colby Player of the Match with 100 percent serving, three aces, 16 serve receives and six digs. Smith had 10 kills and seven digs, McClung had five kills and eight digs, while Tigner had 16 assists and 10 digs and Townsend had 25 digs.

Cadillac also took the Cavs to two sets, 25-17, 25-21, with Lester named Player of the Match with four kills and 100 percent hitting. Smith had five kills and eight digs, Tigner had 14 assists and five digs, Townsend had 15 digs and 19 serve receives and Mikovits had four digs. Kali Jackson had four digs and Colby had five.
