OWOSSO — The Cavs’ boys tennis team finished fourth at the Owosso Quad last Thursday.
Chris Crowder dropped all three of his matches at No. 1 Singles, losing, 1-6, 0-6, to Saginaw Heritage’s Joe Popielarz, then dropped a 1-6, 3-6 decision to Traverse City West’s Jeff Linenger and was defeated 0-6, 0-6 by Luke Mills of Midland.
Noah Reed lost his first match to Zane Gunn of West, 2-6, 5-7 at No. 2 Singles. He was then defeated by Heritage’s Ryan Fattal, 0-6, 0-6, and lost his third match to Midland’s John Hentschel, 0-6, 1-6.
Damen Haley lost his first match at No. 3 Singles 0-6, 0-6 to Midland’s Weondong Hwang. He then dropped a 1-6, 1-6 decision to West’s Kieran Laursen and lost his third match, 1- 6, 1-6, to Heritage’s Ali Hussain.
Mark D’Angelo lost his first match at No. 4 Singles to Mitchell Agrwal of Heritage, 2-6, 0-6. He dropped his second match to Ashton Lawson of West, 3-6, 0-6, and was defeated by Midland’s Drew Davis, 1-6, 0-6, in his final match of the day.
Vlad Li/Luke Moore lost their first match at No. 1 Doubles to Linenger/Mitch Winowiecki of West, 2-6, 0-6. Moore/Li then dropped their second match to Nickolas Kinachtchouck/Logan Light of Heritage, 0-6, 0-6, and finished off play with an 0-6, 0-6 loss to Midland’s Yoodong Hwang/Eric Mier.
Kyle Fluker/Ethan Moore lost their first match at No. 2 Doubles, 0-6, 1-6, to Midland’s Blake Groulx/Mitchell Ensz. They dropped a 1-6, 1-6 decision to Heritage’s Jacob Bone/Jack Davis and lost their third match to West’s Jake Newhouse/Taylor Brown, 1-6, 1-6.
Jaylen Bransfort and Evan Walker lost 0-6, 0-6 to Heritage’s Manpreet Kochar/Grant Jarema in their first match at No. 3 Doubles. Bransfort/Walker then lost 2-6, 1-6 to West’s David Mather /Erik Anton and 0-6, 0-6 to Midland’s Hentschel/Brendan Doyle.
Christian Jones/Jared Young lost 0- 6, 0-6 to Midland’s Nathan Haut/Alex Jewell in their first match at No. 4 Doubles. Jones/Young then dropped an 0-6, 0-6 decision to Heritage’s Neel Gollapudi/Wahaj Ansari and lost by the same score to West’s Zach Walton/AJ Ebling.
