UNIVERSITY CENTER — Carman- Ainsworth had three runners finish within 12 seconds of each other in the Div. 1 regional cross country meet last Saturday at Delta College.

James Johnson placed 59th in 17:42, Aaron Dupree was 63rd in 17:52 and Tyler Pangerl 64th in 17:54, as the Cavaliers finished 13th with 377 points. Ahmir Dunn clocked 21:56 and Sterling Hicks 25:11.

Saginaw Heritage won the boys’ title with 30 points, led by individual champion Evan Chiplock in 15:33. Grand Blanc was second with 37 points and Traverse City Central third with 121.

Carman girls placed 14th with 448 points. Rani Richardson led the Lady Cavs in 23:50, Jalesia Johnson clocked 24:39, Asha Napier 25:41, Cassandra Pelkey 27:51 and Dhjream Carter 30:00.

Traverse City Central won the girls’ title with 41 points, Traverse City West was second with 76 and Midland Dow took third with 96. Flushing freshman Addie May won the girls’ race in 18:28.

The top three teams and any individual in the top 15 advanced to this Saturday’s state meet at Michigan International Speedway.
