FLINT TWP. — An open house for the new location of the Carman Park-Baker Career Academy has been tentatively set for Tuesday, Sept. 20th at 5:30 p.m., according to a press release. Additional information will be provided closer to the event.
The Academy will move into a 13,800-square-foot building, located on Baker College’s Flint campus, that is now being renovated.
The Academy is a partnership formed 10 years ago between Baker College, Bendle Public Schools and Carman- Ainsworth Community Schools that allows high school students to earn college credit two ways:
Through dual enrollment — taking high school classes at their school and college classes at Baker College.
Through the newly launched early-college program — committing to attend high school for five years to earn a high school diploma while earning substantial college credit – up to 60 credit hours and even an associate degree.
Both programs do not cost anything for the student or their families.
