FLINT —Under the lights at Broome Park last Friday, Jawanza Edwards went 2-for-4 with one RBI, but it wasn’t quite enough to keep the Carman-Ainsworth varsity baseball team from falling to Flint Metro League rival Kearsley 3-2. Taking the complete-game loss for the Cavaliers was Austin Jerome after giving up three earned runs on 10 hits and no walks with six strikeouts. Sliding in at 1-for-2 with a RBI was Austin Yost.

The difference in the game according to Carman-Ainsworth coach Steve Faculak was the Hornets’ Marco Rivera, who earned the win in relief with five strikeouts and no walks in just over three innings pitched in addition to going 1-for-1 with a RBI.

The Cavaliers, 10-6 overall, host Grand Blanc for a pair of non-conference games today.
