Cavaliers blow out Lapeer on the hardwood

LAPEER — The Carman-Ainsworth boys’ basketball team dominated Lapeer 67-49 last Thursday, as the Cavaliers move to 12-5 overall and 6-2 in the Saginaw Valley League-Blue.

The Cavs jumped to a 20-13 lead after the first quarter that ballooned to a 37-23 advantage by halftime. Carman- Ainsworth sealed the victory with a 20-8 third quarter, taking a 57-31 lead into the final frame before the Lightning closed the game on an 18-10 run.

Jayden Nunn led all scorers with 22 points including nine in the second quarter alone. Isaiah Jones finished with 13 points, Darrell Scroggins scored 12 and Mehki Ellison added 10.

The Cavaliers host Flint Powers Catholic, 6-10, tomorrow at 7 p.m.
