Cavaliers finish 12th in regional golf

DAVISON – Carman-Ainsworth finished 12th in the Div. 1 golf regional last Thursday at Davison Country Club.

The Cavaliers totaled 467 on a difficult course, while playing in the toughest regional in the state. No. 1-ranked Rochester won the team title with 317, No. 2 Lake Orion was second with 333 and No. 9 Davison was third with 335. The top three teams and top three individuals not on those teams advanced to the state meet this Friday and Saturday at The Meadows on the campus of Grand Valley State University.

Three Carman-Ainsworth seniors played their last high school competition. Mikaila Garrison shot 101, Madysen League 102 and Ally Dittenber 137. Junior Sloan Barclay carded 127.

The rest of the regional scores were Grand Blanc 341, Rochester Adams 348, Lapeer 349, Clarkston 351, Rochester Hills Stoney Creek 375, Oxford 396, Port Huron Northern 400 and Romeo 455. Saginaw Heritage did not field a full team.

Lauren Ingle of Stoney Creek was medalist with a 72, one stroke ahead of Davison’s Kamryn Johnston.
