FLINT TWP. – The Carman-Ainsworth girls’ basketball team lost the North-South Saginaw Valley League title to Midland Dow 48-41 last Friday.
The Cavaliers were leading 15-6 in the first quarter, but Dow took advantage of several fast breaks and steals to take over the lead 20-18. The game was back-and-forth for much of the contest, but Dow continued to take advantage and was still slightly ahead 26-21 in third and continued to build on its lead, while the Cavaliers kept chipping away at the deficit. Dow led 26-21, then 31-26 and Carman- Ainsworth pulled to within two, 31-28 and again at 38-36, but fell just short.
The Cavaliers play their final regular season game tonight at Detroit Edison.
