FLINT TWP. – The Carman- Ainsworth baseball team was handed a pair of losses, 19-2 and 13-5, against Midland Dow to close out the regular season Tuesday.
Carman-Ainsworth managed to keep the early game close in the first inning, falling behind 2-1, but Midland Dow heated up and put the game away with four runs in the second, seven in the third, one in the fourth and five in the fifth. The Cavaliers added one in the third.
Cameron Koegel and Harrison Hogan had a hit and a run each. Alex Green had a hit and an RBI.
In the late game, Midland Dow grabbed a 4-1 lead in the first and never looked back. Both teams added a pair of runs in the third. Carman-Ainsworth then scored one in the fifth and one in the seventh. Midland Dow scored two in the sixth and five in the seventh.
Koegel had a pair of hits and scored twice. Hogan had two hits and crossed home three times. Garrett Gleason and Green added a hit and an RBI apiece.
Last Wednesday, Carman-Ainsworth won both ends of the twin bill against Bendle 11-0 and 5-0, holding the Tigers scoreless in both games.
The Cavaliers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning in the early game and never looked back, adding five in the third and three in the fourth. Hogan tossed a perfect game, striking out 12 while giving up four walks.
Kyle Resterhouse was 3-for-3 from the plate with three RBI and a run. Koegel added two hits, two RBI anda run. Sean Jerome and Ezekiel Ochodnicky had a hit, an RBI and two runs each.
In the nightcap, Carman-Ainsworth scored one in the first, two in the third and two in the fourth.
Ochodnicky earned the win on the mound, fanning eight while giving up four hits and a walk.
Koegel had a hit, an RBI and a run. Hogan, Jerome and Jacob Durbin added a hit and a run each.
Carman-Ainsworth will face Swartz Creek at 12:15 p.m. in the Div. 1 district at Flushing on Saturday.
