FENTON – The annual Genesee County swim meet is taking place Thursday through Saturday at Fenton, where Carman-Ainsworth will be competing against Fenton, Powers, Grand Blanc, Holly, Swartz Creek/Flushing, Corunna, Davison, Ortonville-Brandon, Kearsley and Lapeer. Diving is today, the prelims are Friday with the finals on Saturday.

The Cavaliers swim team competed in the 25th annual Heritage Muzz relay meet on Jan. 7, finishing eighth out of eight teams with 184 points. Lake Orion was first with 400, Saginaw Heritage was second with 382, DeWitt was third with 356, Ogemaw Heights was fourth with 306, Swartz Creek/ Flushing was fifth with 286, Davison was sixth with 206 and Kearsley was seventh with 198.

In the 800-yard free relay, Carman-Ainsworth’s Carson Koegel, Natalie Cook and Connor Heaton took fourth in 9:18. Chase Matusik, Wyatt Pangerl, Brennan Robertson and Koegel finished fifth in 2:01 in the 200-yard medley. In the 400-yard free, Andrew Fox, Olivia Van Duyne, Koegel and Heaton took seventh in 4:49. In the 300-yard medley, Katie Speaks, Mary Dollinger and Cook finished eighth in 3:59. In the 300- yard back, Fox, Chelsea Perry, Van Duyne and Nathan Ratsnski were seventh in 4:24. For the 300-yard breast, Speaks, Grace Pangerl, Dollinger and Wyatt Pangerl were fifth in 4:05. In the 200-yard free, Robertson, Wyatt Pangerl, Matusik and Koegel finished fifth in 1:44. – K.R.
