LAPEER — Give Carman- Ainsworth golfers credit for just getting through the Lapeer Tune-up last Friday.

The Cavaliers and 22 other teams braved a day-long rain and temperatures in the 40s to slog through 18 holes and five hours of golf on a difficult and hilly course.

Carman-Ainsworth wound up in 23rd place, shooting 494 on the par-72 layout.

Charlton Zimmerman led the Cavs with a 118, Garrett Wilson shot 120, Kyle Fluker carded 122 and Alex Frank finished with 134.

Oxford won the tournament team title with a 310 score. Holly was second with 312, edging Almont’s 312 on the fifth-man tiebreaker. Utica Ford was fourth with 337.

The rest of the field was Bay City Western 339, Waterford Kettering 339, Midland Dow 341, Bay City Central 344, Brandon 352, Lapeer East Green 353, Lapeer West 359, Goodrich 359, Frankenmuth 367, Flushing 368, Lapeer East Gold 368, Auburn Hills Avondale 375, Clio 381, North Branch 393, Mt. Morris 396, Waterford 398, Armada 402 and Lapeer West II 404.

Carman-Ainsworth will visit Montrose for a non-league dual meet Friday at Briar Ridge.
