Cavs key contenders entering track regional

MIDLAND – The Carman- Ainsworth track program has historically been powerful, and this year is no different. The Cavaliers will compete at the Midland regional on Friday, with the host Chemics and Alpena, Bay City Western, Bay City Central, Davison, Flint, Flushing, Lapeer, Midland Dow, Mt. Pleasant, Saginaw Arthur Hill, Saginaw Heritage, Swartz Creek, Traverse City Central and Traverse City West.

In the Div. 1 boys’ state rankings, Traverse City Central is currently No. 5 and Traverse City West is No. 7. Saginaw Heritage comes in at No. 9 for girls.

The sprinters are strong for the Cavalier boys, including Marshall Brooks, Jamarius Davis, Trent Barron, Terrence Muex, Jack Carter, Jaheem Billingsley and Joe Chinkeefatt. Dakari Betts will also be tough in the hurdles.

The girls are also stocked with talented sprinters, such as Destiny Morris, Kivonna Thompson, Alexis Collins, Anyllah Walker, Rayven Brantley, Me-Aira Bryant and Ke’Niya Henderson. Also presenting a tough task in the hurdles is Andrenaya Abron. – B.P.
