CDBG fund approved on four projects





FLINT TWP. — The Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission has recommended four Flint Township projects for Community Development Block Grant funding approval.

For 2019, three projects will be funded. The township will be awarded $27,282 for the installation of sidewalks along Graham Road between Court Street and Corunna Road.; $16,048 to fund the Senior Center Food Pantry at 2071 S. Graham Road to purchase food and supplies for seniors in need; and $2,140 for a crime prevention program that includes education and training in low- and moderate-income areas in the township.

For 2020, $190,976 has been awarded for the following street improvements and repairs: reconstruction of the intersection at River Valley Drive and River Birch Drive; milling and resurfacing Hogarth Avenue between Utley Road and Nedra Avenue; milling and resurfacing of Utley Road between Hogarth Avenue and M-21; and milling and resurfacing of Mackin Road between Lavelle Road and the Flint City Limits.

Once the 2019 funds have been released by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban development, GCMPC staff and representatives of the township must meet to sign contracts. Projects cannot begin until the contracts have been signed.
