FLINT TWP. — Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has charged two men in the shooting that occurred about 1:00 p.m. on February 6th on Casaloma Court near Beecher Road in Flint Township.
Derrick Alonzo Mayfield, Jr. , 20, of Mount Morris and Sir Antonio Crockett, 25, of Flint were both charged with felony firearm which carries a mandatory penalty of two years in prison to be served consecutive to the sentence of other charges.
In addition to each being charged with felony firearm, Mayfield is also charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and discharging a firearm at or in a building. Crockett also is charged as being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Prosecutor Leyton declined to indicate whether or not the shooting in Flint Township was in any way related to the fatal shooting that occurred just after midnight on February 6th at the Purple Moon Nightclub on Dort Highway in the City of Flint. But the shooting involving Mayfield and Crockett took place at the home of Rickey Seales Jr., the victim in the nightclub shooting that also left several others wounded.
Mayfield and Crockett will be arraigned in 67th District Court and pre-trial conferences for both are expected to be scheduled this week.
