FLINT TWP. — A Relay For Life Relay Recess children’s event to benefit the American Cancer Society is coming to the grounds of Regional Medical Imaging (RMI), 3346 Lennon Rd.
Last week, the township board approved an outdoor tent request for an “On Angel Wings” Relay for LIfe team.
A flyer included with the application said the May 19 event will be held from 2-5 p.m. and will include music, prizes and snacks. It is designed to teach elementary-aged children about cancer, healthy living and helping others.
All families are invited including children ages 6-16 but adult supervision is required. The child raising the most money will win a bicycle donated by Meijer. There also will be a face painting booth, a hydration and firstaid center and cancer education stations.
Typically, Relay Recess events involve walking laps around a track or playground. Primary Relay Recess components emphasizes cancer education, fundraising and physical activity.
