Theresa Hurley, left, from Catholic Charities, and Lauren Goslee and Terry Pickard, from SERVPRO of Northwest Genesee County spent Thursday and Friday, braving the cold and snow, for a good cause. The trio collected blankets for the homeless, setting up collection sites in Davison, Swartz Creek, Flint and Fenton. Winters are always extra tough for people without warm beds. But this year, with COVID-19, warming centers have limited occupancy, making it even more difficult. The blankets will go to support the Shelter of Flint, My Brother’s Keeper, Carriage Town Ministries and Catholic Charities of Genesee County. Sponsorship partners for the blanket drive were Equality Caucus of Genesee County and Recovery Cleaners. SERVPRO of Northwest Genesee County has spent 2020 donating more than $25,000 to nonprofit organizations through the SERVPRO Cares Campaign. The blanket drive was the final project for 2020.
