GRAND BLANC – Mohamed Qazi, President of Ciena Healthcare, wants people to know that the brand new skilled nursing facility, Regency at Grand Blanc, is not just a another rehabilitation facility.

“We’re trying to create a new model,” Qazi stated, “Our patients are really our guests,” he added, in trying to explain what he calls the “Medical Hospitality model”. From the on-site executive chef to the life enrichment activities, he wants people to understand that Regency intends to cater to its patients in the long-term care facility.

“My passion is really to do things differently,” Qazi said. The facility recently opened in a big way, on Grand Pointe Court (off Hill and I-475) with an open house featuring high profile guests from Grand Blanc Township, such as Chamber of Commerce President Jet Kilmer and Township Supervisor Micki Hoffman, as well as many medical professionals and other business representatives.

Qazi states he was not only happy to make a huge investment in the state of the art facility, featuring three dining rooms, a salon, library and multiple other amenities, but he also intends on offering the highest standard of healthcare—including being focused on hiring more RNs than LPNs.

“We have more emphasis on personal choices,” Qazi added. Ciena Healthcare is a leading manager and operator of skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers in Michigan and Connecticut. The Regency of Grand Blanc offers 94 short-term rehabilitation and long-term care suites, including 50 private suites.

Built at a cost of approximately $10 million, Regency at Grand Blanc will create more than 150 full and part-time jobs. The facility features a living area designed to care for the needs of residents requiring a short-term rehabilitation stay and contains a separate living area to meet the needs of traditional, long-term care geriatric residents.

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to provide high quality care in this state-of-the-art facility in Genesee County,” said Qazi. “Regency at Grand Blanc has a homelike environment for all residents and includes the latest safety features plus an easy to navigate floor plan for both residents and staff.”

The nearly 68,000 sq. ft. facility also features six bariatric rooms, a rehabilitative therapy room and a spa. “We welcome Ciena Healthcare’s Regency at Grand Blanc to our community,” said Grand Blanc’s Supervisor Hoffman choices,” Qazi added.
