BURTON — Mayor Duane Haskins recently told the City Council efforts are underway to get Burton City Hall ready to reopen if the governor’s stay-at-home order ends as anticipated on May 28.
Haskins said the city is also getting the Department of Public Works up and running to the point where they can issue building permits, now that the order was lifted May 7 on construction workers, because the city will be issuing building permits.
For anyone who needs a building permit, they should call the city to make an appointment to come in. Offices are currently open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7 a.m.-noon.
“We’re getting things measured at six-foot (between customers), installing plexiglass, everyone will have to wear masks,” he said. “It’ll be a slow transition.”
