C&L Ward gives back to the community

DAVISON – In an effort to give back to the community, C&L Ward will once again host their roof giveaway program, Shingles for Shelter, after which they will gift an installed asphalt roof to a homeowner who has fallen on hard times and cannot afford to replace their failing roof. ABC Supply Co. Inc. has partnered with C&L Ward, and will donate all of the shingles for the new roof.

On Nov. 1, C&L Ward will have a form on the page within their website, www.goclward.com/shelter, where homeowners can be nominated or apply to win. The application period runs through Nov. 14. Entrants are asked to submit an online nomination form, which includes a written statement on why the homeowner should be awarded the roof, along with a photo or video of the current roof on the home.

The winner will be selected based on current roof condition, circumstance, merit of the nomination and presentation quality. Nominees must be 21 years of age, the homeowner, and a resident in the C&L Ward service area. Judging will take place immediately after the application deadline, and the winner will be announced on Nov. 17, so that the roof can be installed before Christmas, weather permitting.

“We are thrilled to be paying it forward within our community for the fourth year in a row with our Shingles for Shelter program. This is one of our favorite annual happenings and we feel very fortunate to be in a position to provide a new roof for a family in need. With both the winter and holiday season near, we welcome the opportunity to provide the basic necessity of a leak-free roof to a deserving family this time of the year,” stated Patrick Ward, President of C&L Ward. “We want to thank ABC Supply Co., Inc. for partnering with us on this program once again. Their support for this program is greatly appreciated.”

Shingles for Shelter is one of many community goodwill programs that C&L Ward has created. They also participate in Owens Corning’s Roof Deployment Project, gifting a roof to a military veteran, and they have their annual “Stuff the Truck” event that will take place on Nov. 22 in partnership with the Flint Firebirds, during which they collect donations for Catholic Charities.
