The Little League World Series champions are the Taylor North kids from Michigan. The championship game produced a 5-2 win over the team from Ohio! It’s about time a team from Michigan beat an Ohio team (And you know what I am talking about Jimmy Harbaugh!)
It was the first Little League championship for the state of Michigan since 1959. I say, nice job youngsters in bringing the championship to Michigan! The joy on those young kids’ faces when the final out was recorded was priceless. I watched the entire game and it was a tremendous watch.
The college football season opened up Saturday afternoon with an Illinois victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. I watched the majority of the game and I can say, Nebraska still stinks and coach Scott Frost has not improved that team at all.
What is on tap for the Spartans and Wolverines this weekend? Let’s start with the Spartans, who play on Friday night in Evanston, Illinois at 9 p.m. The boys in Vegas have installed the Northwestern Wildcats as three point favorites over Michigan State.
The burning question is, who will be the Spartans starting quarterback? I personally think it will be Temple transfer Anthony Russo. However, will Russo be able to hold the spot with Payton Thorne pushing him for playing time?
The Spartans will have a tough game on Friday night and it will need improvement on the offensive side of the ball to win. I can see a low scoring contest with the two defenses taking over the football game. The Fat Guy Prediction: Purple Guys 20 and Green Guys 17.
The Wolverines have named Cade McNamara their starting quarterback for Saturday’s contest against the Western Michigan Broncos. Cade won the job over Texas Tech graduate transfer Alan Bowman and five star recruit J.J. McCarthy. The kickoff at the Big House is at high noon on Saturday. The boys in Vegas have installed the Wolverines as 17 point favorites. My Prediction: Blue Helmets 27 and Kalamazoo 17.
The college game of the weekend will feature No. 5 Georgia and No. 3 Clemson. The kickoff for this one is set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and should be an absolute dandy of a football game. If you love college football, this is a game to watch.
Yes! Finally college football is here and college fans in the stands will make it so much more enjoyable.
The Detroit Lions ended the pre-season at 0-3, which means nothing in the standings. What I can tell you is the Lions looked awful in the preseason as far as I was concerned. Coach Dan Campbell, you have lots of work to do with this football team in 2021.
We as Lions fans have seen numerous rebuilds in our lifetime of watching Lions football (if you can call some of it football)! I am expecting a five win season or less and more than likely a three win season. What we want to see is improvement and to be competitive on the football field. The home opener will be a good test of competitive football. I do not want to watch a San Francisco 49er 38-10 blow out. I want to see bloody knee caps!
How about the golf this past weekend between Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Cantlay! The two golfers went to six playoff holes and they were super intense holes, I might add. Bryson should have won three different times, but Cantlay was putting like a mad man to stay in it. I can positively say, it was the best golf I watched all year long!
