Locals recognized during virtual Mount Union Honors Convocation
ALLIANCE, OH — University of Mount Union students were acknowledged at the institution’s Senior Recognition and Honors Convocation, held virtually on April 20 on its website and social media channels.
Zackary Mazza, of Swartz Creek, and Mostafa Alaiwat, of Grand Blanc were both recognized.
Mazza was awarded Academic All- Ohio Athletic Conference Status in baseball at the 2021 Mount Union Honors Convocation.
Alaiwat was awarded the International Student Community Service Award at the 2021 Mount Union Honors Convocation.
Each year, the convocation honors graduating seniors and underclass students who have excelled academically, displayed excellent leadership skills and shown dedication to the University and community through outstanding community service initiatives.
2020 degree conferrals announced
ALMA — The Alma College Registrar’s Office has announced the following students have completed the requirements for their respective degrees during 2020. Several students also earned graduation honors, awarded in three levels, recognizing outstanding academic achievement.
The highest honor, summa cum laude, is given to students who have achieved a 3.8 grade point average (GPA); magna cum laude honors are awarded to students who have achieved a 3.6 GPA, and cum laude honors require an achievement of 3.4 GPA. In addition to graduate honors.

Bryce Kita of Grand Blanc received a Bachelor of Arts degree in finance.

Finch named to Fall 2020 President’s List at Georgia State University
ATLANTA, GA — Jody Finch of Grand Blanc was named to the Fall 2020 President’s List at Georgia State University.
Finch is studying/majoring in Psychology.
To be eligible for the President’s List, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 4.0 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State during the fall or spring term with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.
