Color run to benefit disaster relief organization

SWARTZ CREEK — The Swartz Creek Student Council will sponsor its 2nd annual 5K color run/ walk at 6 p.m. Sept. 17.

Proceeds benefit DRAW, Disaster Relief at Work, and the student council.

DRAW is a Michiganbased non-profit that provides disaster relief services throughout the United States.

In the wake of events such as floods, hurricanes and tornadoes, DRAW mobilizes teams of responders to help victims with clean-up efforts like salvaging valuables and removing trees.

DRAW has responded to about seven natural disasters every year since its inception in 2012.

The color run starts at Swartz Creek High School. There will be a DJ, snacks and games. — L.R.
