FLINT TWP. — Dining choices on Miller Road will expand this weekend with the opening of Potbelly Sandwich Shop, 4148 Miller Road, which is right next door to the recently opened Texas Roadhouse.
As is its custom to introduce itself to the community, Potbelly will host a pre-opening celebration from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 25 as a benefit for Priority Children and Baby Court. Priority Children – Baby Court is a non-profit organization that works to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect by raising awareness and providing support to children and families.
The so-called “Oven Warming Party” is open to the public and for a minimum
$5 donation will offer each guest a dinner consisting of a sandwich, chips and a fountain beverage. All proceeds will go to the aforementioned charities.

On Saturday, September 26, at 11 a.m., Potbelly will officially open for business, serving up its signature toasty warm sandwiches, hand-dipped milkshakes, tasty made-to-order salads and live, local music. Their deli meat and cheese are sliced in-house daily and they slide little cookies onto guest’s milkshake straws, according to a press release.
The new shop is the first in Flint and employs about 26 staff members.
Courtney Bennett, the general manager, is a native of this area and has worked for the company for four years.
Potbelly’s also provides a performance venue for local up-and-coming musicians who are called Potbelly Musicians. Live music has been a part of the Potbelly atmosphere since it first shop opened in 1977. Interested performers in and around Flint should contact the new shop manager to apply and to schedule an audition.
“The community is very excited to welcome Potbelly into Flint,” said Bennett. “Many people have visited Potbelly Sandwich Shop when visiting other parts of Michigan, but now there is one right in their backyard. With the warm community welcome, we can’t wait to open our doors.”
Operating hours will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Delivery service will start a few weeks after opening and will be available Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with minimum orders of $25.
