FLINT TWP. — The West Flint Church of the Nazarene Community Car Cruise and Family Fun Festival is set for 4-8 p.m., Saturday August 6 in the church parking lot, 2254 S. Dye Road.
This annual event draws individuals of all ages, according to a press release. The cars represent a multitude of generations from (Model) A to (Iroc) Z and everything in between. Enthusiasts gather around the 70 some vehicles expected to be shown and cast their vote for the “People’s Choice” Trophy.
Vehicles can be registered on the day of the event or in advance online at www.westflintnazarene.org/events/ carcruise
There is no cost to attend or to enter a vehicle. Each cruise entrant will receive a dash plaque and the first 25 entrants will also get a free commemorative T-shirt. The T-shirts also will be available for purchase throughout the day. Activities will include a bounce house and dunk tank for children and live music provided by the Jerry Mathis and the Cruisers band.
Hot dogs, cold soft drinks, and ice cream will be available for donations, with all proceeds going to The Little Lamb’s Compassionate Ministries Center. Also known as Little Lamb’s Closet, the center is located on the south side of the church parking lot and has been responsible for providing clothing, diapers, and other items to thousands of Genesee County families since opening its doors to the public in 2006.
Funds raised at the 2016 Car Cruise will go towards the maintaining of the center’s newly renovated Mobile Response Unit and a much needed carport to shelter it during the winter months.
This 26-foot recreational vehicle purchased used last summer and renovated to provide a way for the Little Lamb’s Closet to take its charitable services on the road.
