McLaren offering heart health, cholesterol help

FLINT — McLaren’s Nutrition Counseling Program is now offering “Heart Health- Controlling Your Cholesterol and Blood Pressure.” Have you been told that your cholesterol or blood pressure is high? Do you have a family history of heart disease? Do you want to learn how to prevent heart disease and be healthier? If you can answer ‘yes’ to any of these questions this class can help. Meal planning tips and recipes will be provided.

This class is being offered, from 10 a.m. to noon, on the following Fridays: Nov. 12 and Dec. 10 at the McLaren Diabetes Education Program Dept., located at 3200 Beecher Rd. in the Beech Hill Center building. The class fee is $30 and registration is required.

Myeloma support group to meet on Oct. 21

FLINT — The Mid Michigan Myeloma Support Group will meet the third Thursday of every month. The next meeting will take place Oct. 21 at the Great Lakes Cancer Center, 4100 Beecher Rd., Flint, 6:30 p.m.

MOUNT MORRIS — A series of spiritual development workshops will be held Oct. 16 and 30 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. On Oct. 16 the workshop will be at the Spiritualist Episcopal Church, 610 Clinton St., in Owosso. On the 30th the workshop will be at the Spiritualist Episcopal Church, 6577 Garden St., Mt. Morris. The cost is $20 and there will be a 15 minute reading given as a door prize. The workshops will also feature a luncheon and live music.

Sweet display at Sloan

FLINT — “The Sweet Side” is a display at the Sloan Museum, 1221 E. Kearsley St., about the history of candy shops, bakeries and “sweet” shops in Flint. Even adults feel like kids in a candy shop, so the exhibit is for all ages.
