Volunteer opportunities with Genesee County Parks
GENESEE COUNTY — Genesee County Parks is looking for large and small groups of people who are used to working together. Whether it’s volunteering at Crossroads Village & Huckleberr y Railroad during Day Out With Thomas, creating gift bags for an upcoming event at the Parks Administration Office or working on the flowerbeds at For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum, there are a variety of volunteer opportunities at Genesee County Parks.
If your company or organization has a volunteer hour requirement, there is no other place as fun as the Genesee County Parks to log your hours. Volunteers truly are the heart of Genesee County Parks.

Creature Camp at Sloan Museum
FLINT — Did you know some interesting creatures call your body home. Super-tiny mites live in the follicles of your eyelashes and in skin pores. Your mouth is home to not only bacteria but also viruses and fungi.
Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body at Sloan Museum until Jan. 16. Head to Sloan Museum and discover the Skin Climbing Wall. This large-scale fiberglass replica of human skin features pimples, warts, wounds, hair, moles and other skin blemishes.
Visitors will discover many features of the skin as they climb across this wall. Sponsored by: Mott Community College, B95 and Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

Cornerstone Rehab offers support group, screenings

New support group offered
FENTON — Are you a caregiver with questions about your aging parents? Do you want to know more about Dementia or caring for yourself while caring for others? Do you suffer from the guilt of placing your loved one in a new home? Rockwell’s Education and Support Group might be right for you.
The group is free and meets monthly on the third Tuesday of the month from 6-7:30 p.m. The group is held at Rockwell Assisted Living at 202 W. Shiawassee, in Fenton. Refreshments will be served along with time to mingle and share your personal stories. A guest speaker will be scheduled each month to share information on many important topics. Members of the group have enjoyed being able to share their struggles and leave with the realization that they are not alone. — G.G.
