FLINT — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint & Genesee County is pleased to announce it has received a $1,211 grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint’s Flushing Area Community Fund. These funds will support the agency’s efforts to build strong community through one to one mentoring relationships.
The Flushing Area Community Fund has awarded Big Brothers Big Sisters funding to support the engagement of Flushing youth in high-quality mentoring programs. The Flushing Mentoring Engagement Project will allow the agency to strengthen its partnership with Flushing Community Schools and area businesses increasing our presence in the community. Additionally, the agency hopes to increase capacity by recruiting volunteer mentors who reside in the Flushing Community. One to one mentoring relationships allows us to ignite the potential in our youth building their biggest possible futures while providing a lasting difference in the communities that we live. — G.G.
