FLINT TWP. — Small businesses with computer problems can seek a remedy at Computer ER Inc., a service and repair business that opened in October at 6235 Corunna Rd., Ste. B, in the Case Construction Plaza.
James E. Bowers, president and CEO, started and ran the business out of his Swartz Creek home for about seven years before branching out into a commercial location.
With the move, Bowers hired three employees and just added three more to the growing company that does mostly contract work, he said.
The staff of nine includes his wife.
“We do small business technical consulting,” Bowers said. That includes hardware and software solutions and building and managing small networks.
He and his staff also provide remote computer repair service over the telephone.
They do a lot of work for medical offices and are expecting to see growth in that area now because of coming changes in medical billing systems, Bowers said.
“Our main goal is to help the small business in the community,” he said.
They don’t currently stock products but can order any hardware required, often at a better price than offered at the big box stores, he said.
“We can custom build any PC you want,” he said.
Bowers said he chose the Corunna Road location to stay as close as possible to his home base in Swartz Creek.
Computer ER also serves residential customers, he said.
Walk-in customers are welcome at the 900-square-foot office but appointments are accepted, he said.
