GENESEE COUNTY — Congressman Dan Kildee recently returned from travels to Israel and the West Bank from Monday, August 5, 2013 until Sunday, August 11, 2013, to learn more about issues critical to the U.S.-Israel relationship and international security, according to a press release.
The trip came about as U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry prepared to begin formal peace talks between Israeli and Palestinian officials in the coming weeks.
While in the region, Congressman Kildee was scheduled to meet with Israeli and Palestinian government officials, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He also met with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro.
The independent trip, which includes Congressman Kildee and 36 other Members of Congress, was not paid for at taxpayer expense.
