The Genesee County Board of Commissioners have started a Process Servers Services program for our county seniors age 60 and over. This program, in conjunction with the Genesee County Clerk’s Office, will be paid for from the Genesee County Senior Services Millage, a county-wide voter approved millage.
Seniors who find themselves in need of having a protective order served will now have help to guide them through the process. The ordeal of needing a protective order can be enough of a trauma, let alone finding someone to serve the order. Now our Office of Senior Services will be able to walk them through the steps necessary to complete the service and pay for the process. Office of Senior Services contact information will be available when filing for protective orders at the Genesee County Clerk’s Office as a way to ease the necessary steps.
“One of the great things about our Senior Services Millage is that it gives us the ability to meet unrecognized need within our community,” said Chairman Mark Young (5th District). “Our residents have shown that they are committed to ensuring seniors are able to get needed services that they have paid for over the years when they may no longer have the resources to afford them by themselves.”
Office of Senior Services Director Lynn Radzilowski applauded this effort by Commissioners as yet another example responsible use of senior millage dollars, “We are so lucky to live a community that understands the needs of seniors and reacts when that need is unmet.”
This program, having just been adopted on October 22, 2018 will start the week of November 12, 2018. Any senior that has questions about this service may contact the Office of Senior Services directly at 810-424- 4478 Monday through Friday 8:00 to 5:00 PM.
