Court Street road project approved

FLINT TWP. — West Court Street, between Elms and Linden roads, is the next major township road to get a facelift.

The township board recently approved a $236,591.05 contract with Ace-Saginaw Paving Company for the resurfacing project.

Estimated costs include engineering fees and will be done in two phases. Phase one – resurfacing being Elms and Dye roads – is estimated to cost $182,644.50. Phase two, from Dye to Linden road, is estimated at $53,946.55.

The cost is “competitive and significantly lower that the prices that were quoted by the Genesee County Road Commission and another contractor,” according to Mike Pifer, engineer and project manager.

Costs include cold-milling, resurfacing, traffic maintenance and pavement marking.

The township Road Advisory Committee unanimously recommended proceeding with this paving project, according to Township Supervisor Karyn Miller. The estimated cost is included in the 2018 township budget.

The board approved the project 6 to 1 with Trustee Barb Vert voting no.
