COVID-19 cases linked to Fenton funeral service


FENTON — The Genesee County Health Department has confirmed at least one positive COVID-19 case with potential exposure to others on Oct. 30 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton.

The visitation and funeral service took place from 11am to 6pm. Attendees of the visitation and/or service are encouraged to call your local health department to report any illness, notify their contacts, get tested by a healthcare provider as soon as possible, and self-quarantine at home as directed through Nov. 13.

The Genesee County Health Department’s communicable disease team is conducting a full case investigation and contact tracing for the confirmed case, as well as reaching out to attendees of the event for potential cases.

The identified confirmed positive individual has been instructed to self-isolate until cleared by public health in accordance with CDC guidance. On Oct. 29, The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services renewed a set of orders regarding COVID-19 mitigation (for more information, please visit www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/).

The Genesee County Health Department reminds businesses and the public of the importance of following all public health orders, social distancing, wearing masks, proper hand washing, not going to events with large crowds, and staying home when ill.
