Crash on I-69 leaves one dead, six injured

FLINT TWP. — A multiple vehicle crash on I-69 in Flint Township has claimed the life of one person and left six others injured.

On Nov. 18 at 6:15 p.m., Flint Township police responded to a rollover crash involving four vehicles on I-69 west of I-75. According to police, two vehicles heading eastbound on I-69 east of Bristol Road collided with each other, sending one of the vehicles through an emergency vehicle turnaround onto westbound I-69 and into traffic. This caused a second crash that involved two more vehicles.

Police said that a total of seven people were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One of the accident victims, a 48-year-old Flint woman, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Eastbound and westbound I-69 were shut down for several hours during the initial crash investigation.

Michigan State Police, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Burton Police Department, Clayton Township Police Department and the Metro Police Authority of Genesee County assisted Flint Township police at the scene.
