GENESEE COUNTY — Teams this season had to compete in a pre-regional race in efforts to limit the number of runners/teams at the traditional regional round because of COVID-19. The top three teams and top 15 not on a qualifying team advance to Saturday’s regional races across the state. Dates and times can be found at MHSAA.com and click on Cross Country.
In Div. 1 at Davison, the Grand Blanc girls won the pre-regional, Flushing was fourth and Davison fifth. Grand Blanc’s Lola Thomas was first overall and Sophia Thomas second. Grand Blanc girls along with individual qualifiers from Flushing and Davison move on. Flushing’s Dallas Ruelan was fourth overall, Ellie Reyonlds was 10th and Davison’s Kylie Eaton was 15th. In the boys’ race, Davison took second, Flushing fifth, Grand Blanc seventh and Swartz Creek eighth. Individual qualifiers included Flushing’s Blake Chipman in eighth and Jordan Buckner in 10th. 33
In Div. 2, both Goodrich teams placed third to clinch a spot in their regional. Freshman Olivia Giza battled her two Linden arch nemesis for three miles before beating them to the finish line to take second overall.
