Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad will not open for summer

GENESEE TWP. – The Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission has decided for the health and safety of the visitors and staff, they will not be opening Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad for the upcoming 2020 summer season.

The park opened in July of 1976 and this will be the first time they have had to delay an opening, according to parks officials.

The plan is to resume operations for the 2020 holiday season beginning with the Halloween Ghosts & Goodies event beginning Oct. 3.

“This was a difficult decision for the Park Commission,” said Barry June, Parks Director. “They felt it was the correct one for the many, elderly staff and volunteers that make Crossroads the excellent venue that it is. We look forward to seeing everyone back in the fall.”

Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission consist of 25 parks and 15 fishing sites. All Day Use parks remain open for public use while practicing social distancing.

Visitors are invited to enjoy more than 11,000 acres by hiking, biking or walking the more than 65 miles of trails or bring a kayak, canoe or rowboat and paddle their lakes and river.
