Crossroads Village to present Christmas at Crossroads

GENESEE COUNTY— Starting on Black Friday, Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad in Genesee County will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland.

Christmas at Crossroads Holiday Magic kicks off this weekend, Nov. 29 and 30, and continues throughout the month of December. Opening night festivities on Nov. 29 will run from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring holiday music, live entertainment and a fireworks show.

Over the years, Christmas at Crossroads has become one of mid- Michigan’s favorite holiday traditions, combining Christmas cheer with the village’s historic charm. During the holidays, Crossroads Village will present a variety of special attractions, including caroling, model train displays, craft demonstrations and reenactments performed by costumed villagers.

Santa Claus will also be visiting the village throughout the holidays, taking his post at the Mason Inn to greet kids and gather Christmas wish lists.

In addition to activities, visitors can enjoy spectacular holiday lights displays at Crossroads Village. Each of the village’s restored 19th century buildings and houses, along with Huckleberry Railroad’s authentic 1920’s steam engine, will be decorated with Christmas lights.

Guests hopping aboard the Huckleberry Railroad train will also be treated to festive displays along the railway, such as Santa Claus on his sleigh and figures representing the 12 Days of Christmas.

Barry June, Genesee County Parks and Recreation Director, said that patrons will fall in love with the village’s Christmas spirit and its old-fashioned ambiance.

“The atmosphere is very special,” he said. “You really can’t go anywhere else in the state to get this kind of a Christmas experience, with the lights and the caroling. It’s just a great family tradition to have in a safe environment.”

June said that Christmas at Crossroads also offers great holiday shopping options for visitors, who can peruse Crossroad Village’s general store for gifts and stocking stuffers.

Meanwhile, patrons looking for a hearty Christmas meal can enjoy a Holiday Magic Christmas buffet, which will be held at the Millstreet Warehouse on weekdays at 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. and on weekends at 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The buffet will feature a variety of dishes, including black forest ham, meatball stroganoff, fresh fruit salad and green bean almandine.
