Davison author to be featured at book fair

FLINT — Gayle Clarkson Haffner, a native of Davison, will be featured at the Fine Arts & Book Fair at Kettering University in Flint, Oct. 26-27 in the Student Center.

Haffner’s novel, “Hands With a Heart: The Personal Biography of Actress ZaSu Pitts”, will be featured at the event.

Haffner said her biography of actress ZaSu Pitts, represents 12 years of research to get her life story into print. Official publication date was July 26, 2011 with a selfpublishing firm, and it is listed on many bookstore websites including Barnes & Noble, Amazon (both print and Kindle).

This time last year the book was being Nominated for the USA Book News 2011 USA Best Books Awards, entered into both Genernal Biography and also History of Media & Entertainment. Both netted a Winning Finalist Award for the book and Haffner said she was able to affix a large gold medallion to the covers of her in-stock copies.

But since doing so well in the national book awards, the title was thennominated for both categories again, The History category brought another Winning Finalist (essentially a Second Place) and the book garnered first place, biography.

The national and international exposure is fabulous, said Haffner, and will last eight months until the contests declare new winners for 2013.
