Davison High School 2021 Homecoming Court announced



DAVISON — Nominees for the 2021 Homecoming Queen are: Ava Arnes, Olivia Dirkse, Sophia Perrault, Jessica Schmidt and Charley Sumner.

Vying for the title of Homecoming King are: Parker Austin, Dane Coleman, Lucas Daunt, Isaac Norton and Gabe Smith.

The homecoming queen will be crowned during half-time ceremonies at the Oct. 1 varsity football game and the homecoming king was to be announced at the Sept. 29 powder puff football game. Details were not available at press time.

The candidates include:

Ava Arnes. Ava’s family includes parents Brian and Tammy Arnes and sisters, Katherine and Abigail. She is a member of the cross country and track teams and plays travel soccer. Her favorite teachers are Mrs. Kondel and Mr. and Mrs. Crongeyer. She plans to attend college and become a teacher.

Olivia Dirkse. Olivia’s family includes parents Josh and Cynthia Dirkse and brother, Carter. She is a member of the varsity volleyball, track and basketball teams and is a member of the National Honor Society. Olivia’s favorite class is math and her favorite teachers are Mrs. Gokey and Mrs. Stedry. Olivia is committed to play basketball at Olivet Nazarene University and wants to work with younger children.

Sophia Perrault. Sophia’s family includes mom, Karla Perrault. She is a member of Varsity Choir, serves as the National Honor Society President and a Cardinal Ambassador. Sophia’s favorite class and teacher is AP chemistry with Ms. Shisler. After graduation, Sophia plans to attend Yale University to major in psychology to become an adolescent and child psychiatrist.

Jessica Schmidt. Jessica’s family includes parents John and Kelly Schmidt and siblings Jourdan and Jeffrey. She is a member of the varsity lacrosse and powerlifting teams. Jessica’s favorite teacher is Mr. Sullivan. Her future plans are to play lacrosse in college and attend medical school to become a forensic pathologist.

Charley Sumner. Charley’s family includes parents Alan and Ondrea Sumner and older brother, Garrett. Charley is a member of the National Honor Society. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Prim. Charley plans to attend Michigan State University and study veterinary medicine.

Parker Austin. Parker’s family includes parents John and Dana Austin and brother, Cooper. Parker is on the cross country and track teams and is a member of GOAL. His favorite classes are any that have to do with history. Parker’s future plans include continuing to work at his job at a local orchard and training for his first full marathon.

Dane Coleman. Dane’s family includes parents Kate Dunning and Lon Coleman and sibling, Cade. Dane is on the basketball team. His favorite class is accounting with Ms. Aboneaaj. Dane plans to attend Grand Valley State University following graduation.

Lucas Daunt. Lucas’ family includes parents Laurie and Matt Daunt and siblings, Charles and Madeline. Lucas is a member of the Marching Band, Pit Orchestra, Jazz Band and after school Orchestra. His favorite teacher is Mr. Schuster. Lucas plans to major in jazz guitar in college to become a professional musician.

Isaac Norton. Isaac’s family includes parents Doug and Tenille Norton and siblings Bella and Carter. Isaac is on the football, wrestling and lacrosse teams. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Kondel. Isaac hopes to study business and corporate law at the University of Montana.

Gabe Smith. Gabe’s family includes parents Mark and Kim Smith. He also has three older brothers and a younger sister. Gabe has been on the varsity football team for the past four years and has played football since he was 4 years old. His favorite teacher is Mr. Weingartz. After graduation, Gabe plans to attend trade school.

2021 Princesses and Princes represent underclassmen

The junior class representatives on this year’s Homecoming Court are Isabella Stephens and Luke Spohn. Isabella is the daughter of Ron and Christine Stephens. She is member of the volleyball and tennis teams and plays club volleyball. Luke is the son of Scott and Jennifer Spohn. He is a member of the football, wrestling and lacrosse teams.

Representing the sophomores are Allie Widmann and Jaxen Clark. Allie is the daughter of Sara Samulski and Matt Widmann. She is a member of the varsity cheer and soccer teams and is an AP student. Jaxen is the son of John and Carrie Clark. He plays basketball and football.

The freshmen class representatives are Gracie Wright and A.J. Hill. Gracie is the daughter of Mark and Jessica Wright. She is a member of the soccer, basketball and volleyball teams. A.J. is the son of Santoral Williams and Aaron Hill Jr. He plays football and basketball and runs track.
