Gun found in parking lot

DAVISON TWP. — On Aug. 7 at 8:57 a.m. at the Best Western Motel, 10082 Lapeer Rd., a maintenance worker called police after finding a .38 caliber revolver in the parking lot of the motel. Police found the weapon was unregistered. The owner is not known.

Garage door frame damaged

DAVISON TWP. — An 82-year-old woman called police Aug. 7 at 11:40 a.m. to report someone had damaged her garage door frame. She told police that two weeks prior she had heard a noise in the driveway of Her Nicole Drive home, possibly a vehicle, but when she looked out nothing was there. On Aug. 7 she discovered damage to the aluminum molding around the garage door. She told police she thinks the damage happened the night she heard noise outside her home. She was given a police report for insurance purposes.

Woman arrested for OWI

DAVISON TWP. — On Aug. 8 at 6:36 p.m. police were called to westbound I-69 to investigate the report of a red Dodge Journey swerving in and out of cars. While on the way, police received an update that the Journey exited I-69 and was now at the Speedway at 1177 S. State Rd. Police approached the woman at the gas station and found she exhibited signs of intoxication. When asked when her last drink had been, she said “last night.”

Police performed sobriety tests, which the 51-year-old Lapeer woman failed. They then administered a portable breathalyzer test which registered a .225 blood alcohol level. She was arrested and refused a second PBT at the Genesee County Jail, so police obtained a warrant for a blood draw. She was lodged at the jail and police are awaiting results of the blood test.

This was the woman’s third operating while intoxicated charge.

Couple arrested after retail fraud reported

DAVISON TWP. — On Aug. 10 at 8:19 p.m. police were called to Meijer, 8089 Lapeer Rd., for a retail fraud report. When police arrived the suspects, a male and female, had left the store in A Cadillac westbound on Lapeer Road with undisclosed merchandise. Later that evening, a Michigan State Police trooper spotted the suspect vehicle at the Travel Inn, 2002 S. Dort Hwy. in Flint. Upon further investigation the officer found and arrested the couple who were at the motel. He is a 44-year-old Flint man who was arrested on second degree retail fraud and a 33-year-old Flint woman who was charged for the same. arrested for same The man was held on a parole violation and was lodged in the Genesee County, while the woman was released with a citation. Police are seeking warrants.

Welfare check turns into OWI arrest

DAVISON TWP. — Police were called to the Taco Bell, 1153 S. State Rd., on Aug. 16 at 10:04 p.m. after a man fell asleep behind the wheel of his car while in the drive-thru lane at the restaurant. Police arrived to find a 56-year-old Flint man in a red truck, sleeping at the drive-thru window. When police approached him, he woke up and admitted to drinking.

The suspect displayed the signs of intoxication and police administer sobriety tests, which he did not pass. His portable breathalyzer test showed a reading of .16 and he was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

Though he was very cooperative, he refused a second test at the jail and police obtained a warrant for a blood draw. He was lodged in the Genesee County Jail and his truck was impounded. Police said he has numerous prior OWIs. — Compiled by Gary Gould
