DAVISON — Three members will not seek re-election Nov. 3, opening the door for three new faces to join the city council.
While in the race for mayor, incumbent Tim Bishop will be challenged by former City Councilman Jim Hansen.
Three residents filed petitions to have their names appear on the Nov. 3 ballot by the filing deadline, Aug. 4. The three are Jamie Stebbins, Casey Clark and Stacey Kalisz.
They will run unopposed for the three, four-year seats being vacated by outgoing council members Leigh LaForest, Ben Callis and Jacqui McKellar.
Bishop, who has served as mayor for 10 years, first attained the office when he took over following the recall of Mayor Fred Fortner in 2010. He has since been elected to the position twice.
Hansen, owner of Hansen Funeral Home, was a councilman in the 1990s when Jack Abernathy was city manager. He served again on council from 2005- 2009. He ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2007.
