FLINT — It hasn’t begun to look a lot like Christmas in Flint and Genesee County, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the holiday season.
The Flint Downtown Development Authority is seeking participants for the 2011 holiday parade which annually features holiday-themed floats and banners. This year’s parade is scheduled for Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. Representatives from organizations are encouraged to walk in the parade carrying banners — schools, churches, nonprofit organizations and businesses are all welcome to participate.
The holiday parade is a great way to kickoff winter, as downtown Flint illuminates with the magic of the holiday season with an evening of fun for the whole family. From 5-6 p.m. entertainment in all of the downtown area, featuring the Flint Institute of Music’s Flint Symphony Orchestra Brass Quartet, singers from the New McCree Theatre and many others
At 6 p.m. the holiday parade will be proceeding from 2nd Avenue and North Saginaw St. and continue on through the downtown area to S. Saginaw and 4th Street. Upon his arrival in downtown at the end of the parade, Santa Claus will be available for pictures at no cost to the first 300 children.
