Delphi shutdown will mean another 287 jobs

GENESEE COUNTY — On Feb. 5, General Motors notified 287 employees at the Flint East facility the site will cease operations in November .

Due to a special arrangement reached in 2007 by General Motors, Delphi, and the United Auto Workers, General Motors provided hourly employees to work at the facility, while Delphi employed the management team.

Tom Wickham, who is global manufacturing and Flint-area plant communications at General Motors, said as a result of the decision to cease operations, General Motors employees who currently work at the site and have recall rights to GM facilities will flow back to GM operations as opening occur. — By Angelo Parlove
