— On Sept. 30, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint (BBBS) to host the annual Getting Better Grades Workshop for Littles (BB/BS youth participants) ages 6- 17. The workshop will be held at the downtown YMCA, 411 E. Third Street.
Little Brothers and Little Sisters will attend workshops facilitated by the Deltas, such as “The Seven Habits of Successful Students.” The children also will receive a backpack donated by the Detroit Pistons (provided by Orchard Children’s Services) and other school supplies. Workshops also will be set up for caregivers and/or Bigs to enjoy as well. All BB/BS Littles and chaperone are invited to come to the event. There is no cost to attend.
The focus of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint is to provide children, primarily from single parent homes, with the friendship of a positive role model. For 66 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been impacting thousands of children in Genesee County through its mentoring outreach and support. Fundraising and mentor recruitment endeavors ensure the increased capacity of the organization to respond to needs in the community.
