FLINT TWP. — The Charter Township of Flint “Spirit of Community Award “ honoring Dr. Brian Wisniewski, a dentist who provided more than $20,000 worth of free dentistry to deserted patients of a dental office that abruptly closed in January, was presented in a resolution approved by the township board at its Monday night meeting.

The award honors residents and business owners who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving the community.

Wisniewski was cited for taking over the caseload of AllCare Dental Clinic on Miller Road which left many patients who had paid for services they did not receive.

Wisniewski and his partner Dr. Steven Rodriguez teamed up with Dr. John Austin (a Linden Road dentist) to work with the state Attorney General and Sheriff Robert J. Pickell to gain custodianship of AllCare’s charts, according to the resolution.

Working out of Austin’s office on weekends, Wisniewski “completed the cases he was able to receive for just the lab fee and if the case was not available he began over with a large discount to the patient.’’

A 1990 graduate of the University of Michigan Dental School, Wisniewski has a long history of providing charitable work and serving Medicaid patients in Genesee County. His main practice is in Chelsea but he recently opened Healthy Smiles Dental Care at 4290 Miller Road to continue serving AllCare patients and new ones.
