NOVI — Dr. Bruce Smoler with Community Dental Associates in Westland was spurred to take action after New York-based Allcare Dental suddenly and unexpectedly closed its doors at each of its 52 nationwide locations, including 10 in Michigan, earlier this month, leaving patients without access to records, follow up care and treatment or much-needed teeth like dentures and partials, even for those who prepaid thousands of dollars for their services.
To help these patients, Smoler is willing to offer former Allcare patients up to $10,000 worth of dental implant services, if needed.
“I would be honored to help any abandoned patients smile again,” he said. “There is hope. There is help. And we will be able to do it. Here, right now, is the time to have action.” As an even greater gesture of his goodwill, Smoler is garnering the support of dentists, oral surgeons, hospitals and other medical providers nationwide to help him in his cause
“For me, the tipping point came when the chain of offices closed down, stranding thousands of patients across the country with no place to continue their care and treatment,” he said. “That is so completely wrong. I find it professionally reprehensible and personally disgusting.”
Smoler has organized a coalition of independent, like-minded professionals to aid in his endeavor, utilizing the Internet to spread word of his offer and to help reassure dental patients.
“I want to use the power of the Internet to make people not only aware of the difference of dentists who are dedicated to their profession, their learning and their training, but beyond that, of their patients’ health and well-being.”
Allcare Dental patients are asked to visit his website, www.dentalimplantsforyou.net, for further information and assistance. Smoler’s office is located at 820 N. Wayne Rd. in Westland. His office also can be reached at 734-728-5600.
AllCare Dental & Dentures had a location in Flint Township, 4307 Miller Rd. The company posted a statement on it website Jan. 3 saying: “The reason for closing is because the business became severely cash constrained and had no way to continue to operate going forward. Allcare was confident in their financial plan to avoid this situation. The plan was to wind down underperforming offices while at the same time raising capital from an equity group.”
AllCare Dental & Dentures is posting information on its website, allcareinfo.com, for patients. Currently, there is no information pertaining to Michigan patients of the chain.
