District play begins

CLARKSTON — Soccer districts begin on Monday with Carman- Ainsworth facing Clarkston in the Div. 1 opener at 7 p.m. at Clarkston. Davison, 8-3-4 overall, 5-0-1 Big Nine, has its work cut out for it going up against Oxford at 6 p.m. in the other opener. On the other side of the bracket, host Grand Blanc, 10-0 KLAA-West, 13-3 overall and ranked No. 9 in the most recent Coaches poll, takes on Flushing, 2-3-1 Big Nine, 8-5-5 overall at Grand Blanc at 5p.m. Lake Orion drew the bye and gets Grand Blanc or Flushing in the semis Oct. 19 at Grand Blanc at 7 p.m. after the 5 p.m. semifinals featuring the winners of Davison-Oxford and Clarkston-Carman-Ainsworth. Davison just shut out Carman- Ainsworth on Tuesday, so the likely lineup includes Davison taking on Clarkston. Finals are Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. at Grand Blanc. — L.P.
