FLINT TWP. — Dye Elementary School is gearing up for its “Get Fit or Dye Trying’” Color-a-thon at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 16 on the grounds of the school at 1174 S. Graham Road.

Dye students began collecting donations this week to earn event rewards including wacky attire and an official participation plaque. Families are being invited to participate in a 3k walk/run/dance through a fitness course where participants will be showered with a safe, eco-friendly, plant-based powdered dye.

Registration is $30 per person and includes a T-shirt and a color dye pack followed by a Color Blast After Party with music and other Big Blasts of Color.

Proceeds from the fun and colorful fundraiser will used to fund extra school activities, projects and field trips.

The event is sponsored by School-a- Thon, a Minnesota-based organization started as a fun, alternative way for schools and other groups to raise funds. No products are being sold.

Provided dyes and dust are “safe, non-toxic and completely washable” according to information provided on School-a-Thon’s website.
