FLINT TWP. — A fire on Saturday, March 4, claimed the life of an 81-yearold township woman. Her four cats also died, according to a report from Assistant Fire Chief Mike Burkley.
The Flint Township Fire Department responded shortly after 2 p.m. on March 4 to a reported fire in a trailer with entrapment in the 2400 block of Beverly Boulevard, south of Pasadena Avenue, in a mobile home park.
Dispatch reported that a woman was trapped inside the trailer, Burkley said. Shortly after dispatch, with more information, township firefighters requested assistance from Mt. Morris Township station 2.
On arrival of the first engine, it was reported that the trailer was “heavily involved;” Fire fighters were unable to enter the trailer safely, Burkley said. It took about 30 minutes for firefighters to bring the fire under control.
A search by fire fighters found the deceased resident, whose name is being withheld until investigations are completed by the fire and police departments.
This is the first fatal fire in the township since 2015, which had two, Burkley said.
The cats did not recover and were taken care of by Genesee Animal Control. — R.S.
