GENESEE COUNTY — Skaff Furniture Carpet One is the title sponsor for the “Empty Pink Chair’ project, an initiative started by Regional Medical Imaging (RMI).
The empty chair represents family and friends who have lost their battle with breast cancer. The goal of the project is to raise awareness about breast cancer, and the importance of an annual mammogram exam.
In addition to helping sponsor the effort, Skaff is spreading the word about the project to their customers. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and so the family owned business is supporting the ‘Empty Pink Chair’ campaign in a big way.
“The folks at RMI had the idea we could use our Big Chair as a larger than life symbol of the Empty Chair. So, we arranged to have it covered in pink for the month of October.” said Dick Skaff, president of the furniture and flooring company.
RMI, a medical imaging company, has arranged to place 100 Empty Chairs in businesses around the area to help get the message out about the importance of the mammogram test. The fundraiser will benefit local cancer patients and promote the need for annual mammograms.
